Brno is an important cultural metropolis that connects a rich historical heritage with contemporary art and a vibrant creative environment. Alongside major cultural institutions operated by the state, regional authorities, and the city itself – such as the National Theatre Brno, Brno Philharmonic, Moravian Gallery in Brno, Brno City Museum, and the Moravian Museum – you will also find smaller venues established and run by local communities. This section is dedicated to those places.

It introduces spaces that have developed organically and possess a distinctive atmosphere and character. These are important local cultural hubs with their own unique identity and original cultural programming. They are projects that offer a living, evolving cultural scene, with programming shaped primarily by the spaces themselves.  In short, this is Brno’s independent cultural scene – created by local people whose contribution plays a defining role in shaping the city’s offerings, both cultural and otherwise, and who give Brno its distinctive atmosphere and character.
