Shaping dialogue, pushing boundaries
The Co.Labs cultural centre is an open, creative, and independent platform that brings an inspirational artistic drive to the public space in Brno.
Co.Labs sits on the historic grounds of the former Stadion on Kounicova Street and, since its founding in 2021, has been a refuge for everyone who wants to experience contemporary art from right up close. It was created in response to the closed nature of traditional theatre venues and offers free space where the boundaries between creator and audience are blurred.
Its location at the former Sokol stadium give the place a specific character. Traces of functionalist and industrial architecture connect with modern, minimalist design. The space creates an informal atmosphere where visitors immediately feel welcome.
Co.Labs own and co-produced dramaturgy focuses on original projects without defined boundaries that aren’t afraid to experiment and connect various art genres. The programme includes physical theatre and new plays reacting to current social topics as well as experimental forms of theatre, visual installations, and alternative music performances. An important role is reserved for actively engaging the public through discussions, open debates, workshops, and presentations of works in progress being created in artist residencies.
Its park is a unique feature within the entire complex. This calm, green courtyard in the city centre serves as an open-air community space. During the warm months, the garden transforms into a place for meeting, relaxation, and culture, where people can enjoy open-air concerts, neighbourhood barbecues, creative workshops, yoga classes, and a bar.
Co.Labs presents the progressive and open side of Brno. It is a sought-after destination for anyone searching for original cultural experiences, wanting to support independent art, or just looking for a space to relax in an inspirational cultured environment.
