SONDA festival 2026

SONDA, a festival platform for experimental music and contemporary sound art, enters its fifth edition — this year as two separate evenings at two different venues in Brno.

The main festival evening will feature concerts, experimental electronics and acoustic instruments. The programme will bring together prominent figures from the Swiss experimental scene, key figures of Czech avant-garde electronics, as well as members of the local music community connected to Brno’s favu label.

The evening will also feature an evolving exhibition of predominantly sound-based art made by TRYCHTÝŘ, presenting works by ⤳ Jiří Y. Suchánek, František Hruška, Filip Dobrocký, Frída Kakao, Michal Marenčík, Petr Němec, Sára Bočková, Karolina Raimund, Martin Schweitzer and Slovenian multimedia artist Tadej Droljc.

⤳ 28. 11. 2026 / Divadlo na Orlí

The second evening will focus on electroacoustic music, spatial sound and unconventional concert formats.

The programme will open with a panel discussion on the current state and possible future developments of sound art and music presentation. This will be followed by a programme of electroacoustic compositions and audio performances. The evening will feature ⤳ Maria Komarova (BY) ⤳ Aernoudt Jacobs (BE) ⤳ František Hruška (CZ) & Ján Podracký (SK) ⤳ alongside multichannel and AV works by Sohrab Motabar (IR) ⤳ Dimitris Savva (GR) ⤳ Darien Britto (EC/NL) ⤳ Maja Wolińska (PL) & Marcin Rupociński (PL): UN-ORGANIC.

Before the evening itself, the project Climatic Stations ⤳ by Jiří Honzírek & Jiří Y. Suchánek will take place. This experimental radio play can be listened to during a tram ride on line 4 from Tomkovo náměstí to Cejl.

For two days, the atrium of Divadlo na Orlí will also host DodekaOTTO, a 20-channel sound installation featuring a three-hour programme of ambisonic compositions from this year’s Sonic Saturday programme at Ars Electronica. The programme includes works from JAMU, Anton Bruckner University and the Ionian University.
