The Filharmonie Brno was established as the State Philharmonic Brno on 1 January 1956, and on the same day gave its first concert (although not yet under its present name). Since then, it has presented New Year concerts on a regular basis – with the sole exception of 2021, when the concert was cancelled due to the pandemic. These concerts are therefore not just a symbolic welcome to the New Year but also a celebration of the orchestra’s anniversary. In 2027, the philharmonic will mark its seventy-first birthday. On this occasion, the festivities will be dedicated to the world of popular film music.
