AROUND MILES: ERIK TRUFFAZ & GUSTAV BROM RADIO BIG BAND
A unique project created exclusively for the Špilberk Festival as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis’s birth. A one-of-a-kind fusion prepared for just one evening: the inner world of Erik Truffaz combined with David Kollar’s experimental guitar and the powerful, traditional sound of a jazz big band.
Miles Davis ranks among the musical giants; his influence on the global music scene—far beyond just jazz—is profound and enduring, as he taught generations of musicians that the most important quality of an artist is the courage to constantly evolve and not be afraid to take risks. Among those fundamentally shaped by Davis’s philosophy and distinctive tone is Erik Truffaz, who is often regarded as the most significant heir to Davis’s legacy in Europe. Truffaz, a native of Chêne-Bougeries, Switzerland, gained worldwide recognition as early as the 1990s, when he began blending jazz with the then-emerging trends in electronic music, such as drum and bass, hip hop, and ambient.
