koncertPRO DĚTI A (PRA)RODIČE

Filharmonie Brno
conductor Dominik Pernica
moderated by Kristýna Drášilová and Vítězslav Mikeš
written and directed by Kristýna Drášilová

We already know the orchestra—we know how powerful it can sound, and also why it needs a conductor to keep it together. But what actually lies within? What instruments make up its colorful world, who calls the shots, and who, on the other hand, patiently waits for their big moment? And can a musician in the orchestra just sit wherever they please?

And this year, you don’t have to stay just as listeners! We invite you to join forces with our orchestra: young listeners can prepare together with their teachers, and adults can dust off their instruments. Let’s experience that unique feeling together—being part of an orchestra.

Drums in spotlight

Rhythm, energy, and tension—these are the key ingredients of percussion instruments, which can set an entire orchestra in motion. Sometimes they gently complement the musical flow; other times, they command everyone’s attention, drawing the entire audience into the pulsating music. We’ll take a look at the fascinating world of percussion—from classical timpani to the bass drum and cymbals, all the way to unusual and surprising instruments. And take note—every drummer is a bit of an athlete! During a concert, they handle a wide variety of instruments, often in rapid succession, and coordination of hands, feet, and the entire body is essential.

Come see for yourself how a single beat can change an entire composition.

They say there’s a bit of a drummer in everyone. This time, we’ll all perform together with the orchestra!

Before each concert, we invite brave participants to a joint rehearsal and a simplified practice session for the percussion group. The music workshop with instructors and orchestra members is open to children and adults who have learned their part, have the courage and desire to play, would like to perform together with the orchestra, and at the same time learn practical tips and advice directly from our professional musicians.

The music workshop always begins 60 minutes before the concert starts. Our bodies will serve as our instruments!
